Visit Copenhagen, the city's official tourism organisation has launched a new initiative which transforms green actions into currency for cultural experiences and local attractions.
The initiative, CopenPay, rewards travellers for climate-friendly actions such as cycling, using trains instead of planes, joining clean-up efforts, and volunteering at urban farms.
Reward points earned from these actions can be used to claim free items and services at 24 participating businesses, including meals, coffees, drinks, kayak tours, windsurf lessons, bicycle rentals, walking tours, sailing tours, cycling tours, and museum and gallery entrance tickets.
"With CopenPay, we’re empowering people to experience more of what Copenhagen offers while placing less burden on our planet. It's about creating meaningful and memorable experiences that are enjoyable and environmentally responsible," said Mikkel Aarø Hansen, CEO of Wonderful Copenhagen.
Information about participating businesses and the different forms of proof of climate-friendly action, can be found on the Visit Copenhagen website.
