Domestic and regional carrier CemAir will start four weekly flights between Cape Town and the Northern Cape provincial capital of Kimberley, from February 17.
CemAir CEO Miles van der Molen told Travel News that the airline, which has been on a strong expansion drive, had launched the route in response to daily requests received from potential customers.
“This is one of the routes that we have wanted to start for a while, and we’re eyeing up others such as Johannesburg to Umtata. On peak days we expect there to be strong demand for the flights.”
The 90-minute flight will operate on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Flights on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays will depart Cape Town at 15h45 and arrive in Kimberley at 17h15, while the Monday flight departs Cape Town at 06h00, arriving in Kimberley at 07h30.
The return flight on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays departs from Kimberley at 17h45 and the Monday flight at 08h00.
