Situated near Table Mountain, Palm House Boutique Hotel and Spa has been refurbished and reopened its doors.
Located in Wynberg on Oxford Road, the Hotel, which was previously a guesthouse, dates back to 1920. New owners Max Jong and Shelagh Wood became the custodians of the hotel in the middle of 2023 and have been working to refresh the property, while maintaining its historic qualities.
When the new owners took control of the property, they said that it needed a complete aesthetic overhaul. While maintaining elements of the original house, the refurbishment included a floor-to-ceiling reboot.
The hotel has a selection of guest rooms and suites both in the main house and in the Palm House gardens. Garden suites range from one to three bedrooms, to accommodate families and groups.
As part of the redesign, the hotel has appointed Chef Gregory Henderson to create its new menu of culinary offerings. Palm House also offers a collection of wine curated by sommelier Richard Goza.
“We placed enormous energy into curating a new look for Palm House to ensure the feel of the property, that almost indefinable character, was just right,” said Wood.
