Atlas Ocean Voyages has partnered with Global Penguin Society, a worldwide penguin conservation organisation, to offer guests on its Antarctic sailings insight into the conservation of the seabird. Many penguin species are endangered, 11 of which are classified as being globally threatened, according to the IUCN Red List.
Guests on the World Navigator, which departs on November 22, will have the opportunity to learn about Antarctica’s penguin rookeries through onboard seminars and guided shore excursions.
The Global Penguin Society aims to protect all 18 species of penguins and their ecosystems through research, habitat protection and education.
Passengerswill learn about the organisation’s research and methodology when collecting data and monitoring colonies. The data includes migration patterns and regular assessments of potential threats to the Global Penguin Society’s conservation efforts.
